Urban and Regional Development Management

The bachelor study programme of Urban and Regional Development Management is an innovated and re-accredited version of the former Management and Regional Development programme. On completion of the programme its graduates should be able to:

  • Understand the functioning of institutions that assure development and administration of towns and regions;
  • Acquire skills to assess territorial (regional) data and information including safety aspects;
  • Learn how to process or elaborate conceptual and strategic documents, especially at local, microregional, and regional levels;
  • Acquire competences essential to make decisions in particular situations relating to regional development;
  • Acquire skills for leadership, effective human resource management, and communication.

In this programme, students can choose one of specializations:

  • Tourism Management
  • Management and HR Development
  • Management in the Public Administration
  • Territorial Management
  • The Environment & Development
  • European Union

In view of the emphasis on interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, graduates will find interesting and prestigious jobs in a wide range of institutions, especially in public administration bodies of all levels, and in prestigious and reputable consultancy institutions and implementation agencies in preparing and implementing regional policy and regional development in the following types of positions:

  • mayor, chairman of a town, secretary-general;
  • head of public administration department at a municipal or regional office;
  • regional and transportation planning manager;
  • regional development analyst/ methodologist;
  • manager in tourism or human resources management;
  • in European Union bodies.

Lectures:

Doc. PhDr. Jana Marie Šafránková, CSc.

She has published more than 100 scientific research and professional papers. In 2007, she became Associate Professor in the field of Management and Economics in Civil Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague. She has many years managerial experience with the management of sociological research, application and teaching  teams. She demonstrated the ability of active positive communication in the management and processing of research projects. Since 1990 he has been principal investigator of several research projects and subprojects. At present, she is part of the international team of interdisciplinary project in part of the social and demographic aspects of the COST Action "Collaborative research on collaborative housing"- network with Lidewij Tummers, TU Delft, Faculty of Architecture, (14 countries, 29 partners).
